The past couple of years the auditions for feature twirler have been held in May/June. Twirlers choose their own music approx 4-6 min long. It is strongly recommended that canidates do 1, 2, & 3 baton. Gymnastics are a plus but aren't required. The girls tryout one at a time with their own choreographed routine, in their own costume. Tryouts are normally held outdoors unless the weather is bad.

Twirlers don't get any scholarships, but the band does award members who participate multiple years throughout college. A stipend for 2nd 3rd and 4th year returning members is given. It's not a lot, but it helps to pay the bills, or at least get some books for the semester.For more information visit the Rutgers University Band Site.
