Middle Tennessee State University is the fastest growing university in
Tennessee. The Blue Raiders were Sun Belt Conference Champs 2 years in
a row. With their loud sound and funky style, the Band of Blue is
nationally known, and was the 7th largest marching band in the nation in
2001.
The MTSU Majorettes perform with the Band of Blue at pep rallies,
pre-game, half time at home and away games, parades, and other community
events. They also perform at a Tennessee Titans regular season home game.
The majorette line has individually held twirling titles such as Miss
Majorette of Tennessee, Miss Majorette of the Mid-South, and Regional
and State Twirling Champion. In 2001 the majorette line won a national
title.

There is not a set number of candidates selected for the majorette
line. Candidates are chosen based on their twirling ability, coordination
of routine to music, variety of dance steps, showmanship, posture, and
appearance. Skills of past majorettes have included multiple turns, toss
illusions, toss cartwheel or walkover, and 2 and 3 baton skills.
