Judy Cox is the UT Majorette Coordinator, as well as Director of the University of Tennessee Twirling Camp. The squad size ranges in size from 7 to 15 twirlers. Those interested must submit an application and full length photo prior to the try-out date.
Try-outs consist of a Twirl/Dance Twirl Routine, Strutting, and new routines. Judging is based on:

  • Appearance
  • Twirling/Dance Routine (technical ability)
  • Strutting
  • Gracefulness
  • Showmanship
  • Featured Twirler tryouts will immediately follow majorette line selection. The public may observe from gym bleachers. Featured twirler applicants will be judged on variety and difficulty of routine, coordination, appearance, gracefulness, twirling/dancing techniques, posture, originality, showmanship, and audience appeal.

Attending the twirling camp is an excellent way to prepare for UT majorette auditions. You will have the opportunity to meet and twirl with the current majorettes and learn "the bird." Levels include: Beginner, Intermediate A, Intermediate B and Advanced. The camp also includes the possiblity of Private Lessons, a Talent Show, a Camp Performance Program, and the chance to become a UT twirler for a day! Find out more information on the camp.
