SRU is located in Western PA, in the Butler Area.
This squad is so wonderful because not only do you get to keep twirling in college, but you make great friends as well!!! Tryouts are held in the summer and at the beginning of the fall semester. You have to come and audition everyday for a week in the beginning of September. They teach you a routine which you must perform for the director at the end of the week. Canidates should be able to perform doubles, triples and all the basics. Acrobatic tricks are a plus! |
The squad consists of 12 members with 1 Captain and 1 Co-Captain. The SRU twirlers use a variety of props based on the show for the year including one, two, three and four batons, knives and flags. Their routines are always very creative and dance oriented. Skills include basic twirls, horizontal and vertical turns, illusions, etc. There are many different levels of twirling on the squad, but everyone gets a chance to twirl to their full potential.
The squad performs in at least 20 indoor competitions in the Spring. On top of that we also do some parades, and also some halftime shows for basketball games. |
