Twirlers perform a variety of skills using one baton, two batons, three batons and swing flags. The Blue Band performs at all home football games and typically travels to one away game during the regular season. When the Penn State football team appears in a post-season bowl game the Blue Band travels to that event as well.
From central PA, the Touch of Blue twirlers amaze crowds with their twirling and dance abilities. |
The squad includes 11-14 majorettes and the 'Blue Sapphire' Feature Twirler. Along with the band members, twirlers audition each year for their position on the squad.
In addition to football season, twirlers participate in national competitions.
The Touch of Blue twirlers are the reigning National Champions in Collegiate Halftime and Dance Twirl, held annually at Notre Dame.
